Every edition of the MFBSE entails a business trip that students attend at the end of the first semester in Italy.
These past two editions, students’ task was to support the ongoing empowerment and development project that Slow Food Alto Salento has implemented in the Marine Protected Area of Torre Guaceto (Puglia, Italy) since 2000.
The aim of the project is to enhance the productivity of the area, by rethinking stakeholder relationships and establishing new businesses that can strengthen the sustainable outcome of the local agricultural system and the Marine Protected Area.
Our students were involved in an intense working week on field in order to develop their own groups’ business plans to revitalize the area and improve its attractiveness, even in terms of tourism, by leveraging on sea and agricultural food local excellences. At the end of the business trip, they presented their group projects to the Slow Food Alto Salento president and provided challenging suggestions while getting constant feedbacks.
